Stakeholders of the German Development Cooperation in Vietnam

Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Co-operation (BMZ)On the German side, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is responsible for the planning and steering of development cooperation. However, the Ministry itself does not implement programmes or projects - it coordinates the work of the so-called implementing organisations. The implementing organisations work within the framework of the priority areas that have been agreed between Vietnam and Germany.

Among the implementing organisations are the Center for International Migration (CIM), the German Development Service (DED), the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Capacity Building International (InWEnt), the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW), and the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG). KfW and DEG both belong to the KfW group of banks.

Among the tasks of these organisations are the following:

A centralised base for German Development Cooperation, where all the above organisations have offices, ensures ease of communication and efficiency. In addition, a BMZ representative works in the German Embassy in Hanoi as Advisor for Development Cooperation, permitting close local coordination.
