The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is responsible for planning and steering German development cooperation worldwide. The Ministry itself does not implement programs or projects - it funds and coordinates the work of the implementing agencies. The implementing agencies work in the priority areas that have been agreed between Viet Nam and Germany.
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ha Noi represents the German Government, including BMZ, in Viet Nam. The Development Counsellor at the Embassy is the focal point for German Development Cooperation within Viet Nam. He is responsible for coordinating the German Development Cooperation at country level.
Implementing agencies are the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) including the Center for International Migration (CIM), the German Bank for Reconstruction (KfW Entwicklungsbank), and the Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG).
